I've never liked the idea of saying to people, you must show your papers or something to do what is just an everyday activity … I'm pleased to say that we will not be going ahead with plans for vaccine passports.
— Sajid Javid, Britain’s Health Secretary
Vaccine mandates. The very words send chills up and down my spine. Surely you, the government, are not trying to decide what I, the free citizen, should put into my body?
The thought of it is inconceivable. Medicine has always been a private matter between individual and physician: the doctor’s office is a sacred place of confidentiality. Even a spouse is not entitled to his wife’s medical information unless she consents.
When what we put into our bodies is no longer a personal choice, it takes our society backward to an unthinkable time when horrors are conducted under the guise of care, when mental health patients were tied down to a bed and forced to take shock treatments. To the years when down syndrome children were sterilized to prevent future progeny. To the period when babies were yanked out of the arms of young pregnant mothers whose families were ashamed of their sin.
Involuntary medical treatment is one of the darkest evils ever perpetrated on a culture. How can this be happening here, today, in 2021, in Canada, glorious and free? In the USA, leader of the democratic world? Haven’t we long passed the days of barbarism? But it seems we are far closer to our ancient and violent roots than we imagined, the thin veneer of civilization a discardable inconvenience when confronted with stark fear.
An ominous sense of foreboding drives the mob into a frenzy so that they clamour for their leaders to do whatever it takes to protect them. It is an induced state of terror that leads the people of the mob to hate their uninoculated neighbours and blame their ills on the scapegoat of virgin arms.
We are surrounded by hatred emanating from fear. The stakes are so high. If we gaze too long at the chaos around us, it appears insurmountable. We must not meditate on the horrors but instead look to God and breathe in his word. We must search for him with all our hearts.
The only way through these last days is courage. God says, “Be strong and of good courage.” Scripture commands, “trust in the LORD and fear not.”
The Bible says, “Perfect love casts out fear.” Perfect love comes from God. When we trust entirely in God’s love, we can live beyond fear. It will not be easy. It may be the most difficult battle of our lives but every moment, we must choose courage over fear.
The best way to trust completely in the LORD is by becoming enraptured by his word, presence, and truth. When we do, the reality of Jehovah becomes bigger than the lies that surround us. Selah.
Please check out my latest book: a poetry chapbook focused on the effects of the lockdowns on our society. I wrote this book all last year as I watched the insanity of lockdowns wreak havoc around me.
