It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.
We truly do live in dangerous times. Our world stands on the precipice of global tyranny. Deception is the norm, and the truth is treated like a naughty child who must constantly be corrected. Governments pay for newspapers to pump out their messages, while real journalists are banned from public life.
How do we cope with knowing that the institutions we once trusted, although perhaps begrudgingly, have turned against us in simultaneous acts of betrayal? How do we maintain our integrity when so many that we trust have shown their complete lack of trustworthiness?
The first step is to be aware of what is happening. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it, and you are far ahead of those who don’t. But seeing alone is not enough. Awareness seems futile if you can’t do anything about it.
The next step is to do something. No matter how small. Fight this battle somehow. It doesn’t have to be every day. Maybe you can only do something once a week. What are some ways you can fight it? Here is a list, not exhaustive, but a start.
Speak truth
Write truth
Ask questions of those in seats of authority
Help those who are contending for truth
Call a politician
Live your purpose
Pray
Believe and trust God
Talk to others about God
Take legal action
Stand up for your rights
Perform small acts of noncompliance
Attend a protest
And know that you are not alone. Isolation makes you feel like you are the only one in the world standing up, but that is an illusion. Many around you are also aware.
If you are a believer, this is the time to be sure of your beliefs. This is the time to call upon God with all your heart. This is the time to be “strong and of good courage.” Fear will do us in. Our faith is being tested beyond anything we thought imaginable, but we must have courage.
Above all, stand firm in the truth. Without truth, we have nothing.
Please check out my latest book: a poetry chapbook focused on the effects of the lockdowns on our society. I wrote this book all last year as I watched the insanity of lockdowns wreak havoc around me.
